Which band class are you in?
Beginning French horn
When you practice you should:
Play a long tone warm up (including Remingtons and Lip Slurs)
Play a technical warm up (including scales, clarke studies, scales of thirds, chromatic scales, and articulation drills)
Play any etudes or special assignments given by your band director or private teacher
Play your band music. Work on the sections that give your trouble, not just the fun parts!
Play sitting down in a chair with good posture and with your music stand adjusted correctly.
Start in different places. Isolate places that need the most practice, then try to start before that spot and see if you still get it right!
Use a metronome. Practice from slow to fast. Slow practice means accurate practice. Don't increase the tempo until you are ready!
Record yourself and listen to your recording. Sometimes it's hard to hear what's happening unless you record yourself!
Save "fun music" as a reward at the end of your practicing. Maybe you can learn something "by ear!" Maybe you can try to memorize something that you like to play!
